BELAIR2017

The BELAIR2017 campaign was the 3rd BELAIR campaign with in-situ, UAV, APEX and satellite data acquisition at four BELAIR sites as the SILVA site was added.

Data acquisition

In-situ data, UAV, APEX and satellite images were acquired by the HESBANIA, LITORA SONIA and SILVA teams in June 2017 and June-July 2018.

Before the BELAIR2017 campaign the radiometric and spectral performance of the field spectroradiometers operated by VITO (last calibration report January 2017), KUL, CRAW and VUB were verified in the dark room of VITO on 29 May 2017.  A verification report including recommendations was provided to each operator. After the BELAIR auxiliary training at VITO, a measurement protocol developed by VITO was provided to the participating ground teams.

The hyperspectal APEX sensor was calibrated (spectral, radiometric and geometric) at the Calibration Home Base (CHB) hosted by DLR in June 2017 and April 2018.  Due to unavailability of the aircraft the APEX campaign was partially performed in 2017 and 2018.  Data will become available to the entire international Scientific Community two years after the delivery of APEX data to PI, which was for LITORA December 2017 and for the other site March 2019.
